Membership Support / Advice

Currently the LWA does not have capacity or resources to help individual members or potential members on their specific projects, farms or programmes. We get a lot of requests for individual support and would love to have the time to respond to each request in full. We are fundraising for a new role for somebody to focus on membership support and services as we have identified it is a gap in our offering so please watch this space. Having said that, if your query is critical and urgent please email info@landworkersalliance.org.uk including the word URGENT in the subject header and it will get picked up and we can try our best to help.

Contacting Individual Staff

Please take the time to explore our staff page here to see who the most relevant contact for your enquiry is. Barcombe Nurseries is a well-established organic vegetable farm and box scheme in East Sussex, currently delivering over 800 boxes of fresh fruit and veg a week. Growing on 9 acres we have an extensive covered cropping area, alongside field scale cropping, with plans to take on more land and expand our growing area in the near future.

We are looking for a seasonal Grower to join our team from April until November. The ideal candidate will:
    – Have a few seasons growing experience. Training and mentoring will be given alongside the job, so the position is ideal for
someone wanting to further their learning.
    – Be physically fit, hardworking, practical and with an eye for efficiency.
    – Be able to organize and manage own workload.
    – Have some experience driving tractors and using mechanized transplanters and weeders. (training can be given)
    – Have a UK driving licence.

Working alongside our main Grower, you will be involved in all duties from propagation to planting and weed management. You will be tasked with managing a set of crops (amount and type will depend on experience). You will also work alongside the pack shed team on busy harvesting days and help with other tasks such as packing orders where necessary.

Barcombe is situated in the beautiful Sussex countryside with views of the South Downs. It is close to Lewes, a beautiful, vibrant little town and Brighton, a diverse, multicultural city. Plenty to explore and entertain yourself with when not working on the farm!

Hours between 4/5 days per week depending on workload. Pay dependent on experience.
    For more information contact growers@barcombenurseries.co.uk.
We operate an inclusive recruitment process and welcome applications from any social group.
