Membership Support / Advice

Currently the LWA does not have capacity or resources to help individual members or potential members on their specific projects, farms or programmes. We get a lot of requests for individual support and would love to have the time to respond to each request in full. We are fundraising for a new role for somebody to focus on membership support and services as we have identified it is a gap in our offering so please watch this space. Having said that, if your query is critical and urgent please email info@landworkersalliance.org.uk including the word URGENT in the subject header and it will get picked up and we can try our best to help.

Contacting Individual Staff

Please take the time to explore our staff page here to see who the most relevant contact for your enquiry is. Our addresses format is firstname.lastname@landworkersalliance.org.uk Please bear in mind we all work part time and have limited capacity to respond to enquiries outside our core areas of work. Seasonal Grower Position – Part Time (2 days p/w)
Lovebrook CIC – Kingston, Lewes, East Sussex
    http://www.lovebrook.org

Lovebrook CIC is a new ecological and community wellbeing project, based across 33 acres in the beautiful South Downs village of Kingston. This exciting and ambitious project includes market garden, orchards, forest garden, areas of rewilding and woodland planting, camping areas and laying hens. This multi faceted project serves to engage the local and wider community on many levels – including:

Organic fruit and veg sales to local and wholesale customers
    Weekly veg bag deliveries
    Regular volunteer days
Workshops & training in regenerative & permaculture practices
    Wellbeing days and retreats
Nature based therapeutic and outreach activities
Partnerships with local charities and organisations

We are a non-profit organisation, with a focus on sustainable and regenerative practices, and the wellbeing of people and planet. All profit generated by Lovebrook goes back into the project – so we can share our nature and wellbeing opportunities with those who couldn’t otherwise access them.

We’re looking for an enthusiastic and experienced grower to join us for 2 days per week in our second full growing season. You will work alongside our other 3 market gardeners, to deliver and develop our chemical free vegetable and fruit growing activities, lead regular volunteer sessions, and develop our wider farm environment. It will be a varied and all-round role.

    Responsibilities Include:

    * Working with the other lead growers, to:
Manage and deliver produce on the already existing 1 acre market garden, including 1 polytunnel – to include planning, propagation, crop production, harvest, packing, record keeping, sales to wholesale and local buyers
    * Leading on volunteer sessions
    * Fertility building, soil improvement, shelter belt development and biodiversity improvement
    * Developing & implementing farm infrastructure
    * Maintaining equipment

    Desirable Requirements:

    ● Minimum 1 year commercial growing experience
    ● Experience working with volunteers
    ● Understanding of organic and agroecological farming principles and practices
    ● Good organisational skills, including good time management and ability to prioritise
    ● Ability to work on own initiative and collaboratively as part of team
    ● Knowledge of health and safety practices on a farm

    Our commitments:
We are committed to stewarding the land in line with regenerative, low/no till organic practices, helping create an inclusive and accessible healthy local food system, and sharing the benefits of nature and wellbeing to those that might not otherwise access it.

    Location:
The farm is in a great location for accessing the surrounding vibrant towns of Brighton (7 miles) and Lewes (2 miles), both of which are easily accessible by train, cycle, bus or beautiful South Downs walks.

    Details:
This is a part time, seasonal position beginning asap
Self employed contract to run until end October 2023
    Two days a week (8.30-4.30)
    £100p/d
There is no accommodation on site

    How to apply:
Please email Hannah Weller with covering letter and cv.
