Membership Support / Advice

Currently the LWA does not have capacity or resources to help individual members or potential members on their specific projects, farms or programmes. We get a lot of requests for individual support and would love to have the time to respond to each request in full. We are fundraising for a new role for somebody to focus on membership support and services as we have identified it is a gap in our offering so please watch this space. Having said that, if your query is critical and urgent please email info@landworkersalliance.org.uk including the word URGENT in the subject header and it will get picked up and we can try our best to help.

Forty Hall Farm is recruiting! We have three job opportunities: a part-time box scheme administrator for Enfield Veg Co, a part time assistant grower position and a part time seasonal grower position. Like the sound of living in the big city but working in the fields? Then read on!

Forty Hall Farm is a historic, diverse, Soil Association-certified mixed farm in Enfield, north London – incorporating a nine-acre market garden, a 12-acre vineyard, a community orchard, extensive livestock production and woodland over its 150 acres. It’s part of Capel Manor, a land-based further education college.

We’re looking for a part-time Veg Bag Administrator:

Enfield Veg Co is our own weekly veg bag scheme, through which we sell a large proportion of our vegetables. We’re looking for an enthusiastic administrator to look after our customers, develop our marketing strategy and increase access to the scheme across Enfield and beyond. Working closely with our Market Garden team, you’ll produce our weekly newsletter and ensure the correct bags are delivered to the right locations. You’ll maintain our relationships with all our pickup points and actively seek out new ones, and work to increase the size and reach of the scheme. The job is primarily an office-based role at the farm, and will involve regular travel around the Enfield area.
This job is a permanent post, 1.5 days per week and could be combined with the Assistant Grower role below.

We’re looking for an assistant grower to join our team in the Market Garden:

You’ll work alongside the head grower to help produce and sell over 20,000kg of seasonal organic veg per year. The job involves all aspects of commercial veg production, from seed through to sales, and includes working at smaller scale with hand tools and larger scale with tractor drawn machinery. The work also includes assisting with packing and occasionally delivering the veg bags for Enfield Veg Co, our veg bag scheme, as well as working with groups of volunteers and students with a wide range of abilities.
This job is a permanent post, 3 days per week and could be combined with the EVC job above.

We’re also looking for a seasonal grower to join our team in the Market Garden this year:

You’ll work alongside the head grower and assistant grower during the busiest time of the year to help produce and sell our vegetables and fruit. The job involves all aspects of commercial veg production, from seed through to sales, and includes working at smaller scale with hand tools and larger scale with tractor drawn machinery. The work also includes occasionally assisting with packing the veg bags for Enfield Veg Co, our veg bag scheme, as well as occasionally working with groups of volunteers and students with a wide range of abilities.
This job is a fixed term contract, 4 days per week, for 6 months from April 2020
