Landworkers’ Alliance members in the North of Scotland are organising a Winter Gathering on Sunday 11th December at Dingwall Community Centre. The event is for anyone involved in land work, be that crofters, farmers, growers, foresters, new entrants or those seeking access to land. The gathering is a chance to get together, share skills and knowledge and share delicious food together!
We welcome LWA members, supporters and all those who care about the future of our food and farming systems in Scotland. Learn about the vision of the Landworkers’ Alliance, share ideas and reflect on how we can work together to build the agroecology movement from the ground up in Scotland!
There will be an open space for discussions & seed swap over lunch, then a choice of 3 workshops (out of 6 options) in the afternoon, followed by a delicious feast prepared with slow-cooked hogget from Achpopuli farm and organic veg from Knockfarrel Produce (vegan option available too). Bring an instrument or a song to share!
Kids are welcome at the gathering and we’re looking into the possibility of some drop-in kids craft activities during the afternoon if there is demand.
Workshop options:
- Wool spinning demo and peg loom weaving workshop with Katharine Sharp from Achpopuli Farm
- Seed saving workshop with Finlay & Haley from Seeds of Scotland
- Discussion about growing and milling heritage grains with Col Gordon
- Discussion about campaigning and lobbying on the issues affecting small-scale farmers and crofters with Tara Wight from the Landworkers’ Alliance
