Requests for work, volunteering or internships

We are currently not recruiting for any roles but please read our newsletters for any announcements. We currently do not offer any volunteer or internship placements directly with the LWA, but keep an eye out in the newsletter or on the forum for any members looking for volunteers or workers.

Academic/Research Enquiries

Please look at the Agroecology Research Collaboration to see if it fits your area of research/work.

Membership Support / Advice

Currently the LWA does not have capacity or resources to help individual members or potential members on their specific projects, farms or programmes. We get a lot of requests for individual support and would love to have the time to respond to each request in full. We are fundraising for a new role for somebody to focus on membership support and services as we have identified it is a gap in our offering so please watch this space. Having said that, if your query is critical and urgent please email info@landworkersalliance.org.uk including the word URGENT in the subject header and it will get picked up and we can try our best to help.

Contacting Individual Staff

Please take the time to explore our staff page here to see who the most relevant contact for your enquiry is.

Our addresses format is firstname.lastname@landworkersalliance.org.uk

Please bear in mind we all work part time and have limited capacity to respond to enquiries outside our core areas of work.

You can also find information under the About Us header about branch and regional organising, and identity groups within the LWA membership.

LWA AGM 2021

What: LWA AGM 2021

When: Saturday 4th December (Online AGM) 1pm – 5.30 pm and Sunday 5th December (Regional Gatherings)

The Landworkers’ Alliance loves to put energy into gathering together as a movement to strengthen our union so whilst it’s been hard not to be able hold our AGM in person for a second year running we are are excited to be holding our AGM online and supporting you to get together in your regions for all the important celebratory, skill sharing and connection parts of the AGM that don’t feel the same online!

Our national AGM will be taking place on Zoom on Saturday 4th December so you can join from anywhere – barn, field, forest, sauna, sofa, tractor, polytunnel!
Regional social gatherings will be taking place on Sunday 5th December all across England, Scotland and Wales. Find out more about your local events location below.

ONLINE AGM
The online AGM will be on Saturday 4th December from 1.00pm – 5.30pm and will be an exciting opportunity to get lots of us together from across Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland and England.

***Please see our final program here! ***

Although will be a shorter event than last year, we intend it to be just as energising: plans for the afternoon include a dynamic and in-depth review and reflection on the projects, achievements and challenges of the year gone by, developing LWA’s political strategy, opportunities to ask questions to the LWA working groups, staff and Coordinating Group, as well as cultivating connections, ceremony and a little entertainment!

Tickets are available here and are purchasable for a sliding scale this year.

We’ll also have an LWA film club screening the evening before on Friday 3rd December  to help start the weekend with some lovely LWA vibes!

We are delighted to be screening the stunning, award winning documentary Honeyland at  7:30pm the evening before (Friday 3rd December) to help start the weekend with some lovely LWA vibes. Its an amazing film and we are so excited to be screening it, please join us!

(please note these tickets are sold separately to the AGM).
You can find out more about the film on their webpage here
There will also be a Q&A afterwards so please watch this space for more details!!!!

REGIONAL SOCIAL GATHERING

The regional events will take place on Sunday 5th of December and allow us to focus the energy, knowledge and inspiration felt from coming together nationally online, into our local communities.

We hope that these events will strengthen the movement and organisation within each region and bring some of the much loved in person aspects of the LWA AGM closer to your door! Events will vary region to region but plans in the pipeline include member-led sessions, film screenings, farm tours, performances, food, drink, celebration and ceremony!

TICKET SALES AND COSTS

It is really important that members can participate in the online meeting and so we have decided to offer tickets for a sliding scale this year to encourage everyone to attend. Even though it’s online, there are still quite a few costs involved in running and delivering it and we still have several people working hard behind the scenes organising it and bringing it all together.

ONLINE AGM TICKET:

What it includes: Access to all the sessions of the online event and storytelling

Tickets at a sliding scale from £0 – £7.50

HOW ARE WE MAKING OUR ONLINE EVENT ACCESSIBLE?

We recognise that for many LWA members spending a lot of time in front a computer screen is very different to our day-to-day work so in order to make our AGM feel manageable and energising we have shortened it significantly from last year and broken the official business up with storytelling, break out sessions, Q+As and lots of space and breaks!

We have aimed to make the sessions interactive using a mix of audio and visual engagement and presentation tools,  include lots of break and space between sessions and it is possible to dial in via phone or computer. However, unfortunately we are unable for this event to offer translations or closed captioning.

The events will all be recorded and available for re-watching or viewing at any more convenient time and within your own pace.

We will also run a couple of sessions in the week before offering technical support and guidance for accessing zoomt. If you feel that you might need this, please get in touch!

Please get in touch with Brigite at brigite.rowan@staging.landworkersalliance.org.uk if you have any questions.

WHO CAN ATTEND THE LWA AGM?

*The Landworkers’ Alliance AGM is the one national event of the year we require those attending to be either be members or supporters of the LWA*

This is because at our AGMs we have many political and strategic discussions about the direction of the union, elect and re-elect the co-ordinating group and vote on proposals about the governance of the union. It’s really important that any decisions and steering of the union comes from the members, so for this reason only LWA members and supporters can attend the online event, although please note that only landworker members (not supporters) will be eligible to vote in elections and proposals.

As the regional social gatherings will have more of a focus on building movement and connection, we welcome and encourage attendance from wider LWA supporters, networks, local community groups and allies.

If you would like to attend and get involved but aren’t yet a member or a supporter of the LWA you can simply join here:
