Requests for work, volunteering or internships

Academic/Research Enquiries

Please look at the Agroecology Research Collaboration to see if it fits your area of research/work.

Membership Support / Advice

Currently the LWA does not have capacity or resources to help individual members or potential members on their specific projects, farms or programmes. We get a lot of requests for individual support and would love to have the time to respond to each request in full. We are fundraising for a new role for somebody to focus on membership support and services as we have identified it is a gap in our offering so please watch this space. Having said that, if your query is critical and urgent please email info@landworkersalliance.org.uk including the word URGENT in the subject header and it will get picked up and we can try our best to help.

Contacting Individual Staff

Please take the time to explore our staff page here to see who the most relevant contact for your enquiry is.

THIS YEAR THE LWA AGM WILL BE ONLINE

If there is one thing the Landworkers’ Alliance loves to do and puts a lot of emphasis and energy into is to gather together to build as a movement and strengthen our union! and so it’s been a real challenge that it hasn’t been possible to run any events, training or workshops this year. Everyone misses each other deeply and the magic and power that’s created when we all come together!

For us our AGM is one of the most important events for members every year as it’s a way to bring people together from across the UK, collectively set our work agenda for the following year, develop our political strategy, organise skill shares and farmer-to-farmer trainings, elect our national coordinating group, build and strengthen our movement and of course have a party!

Even though we won’t be able to physically come together this year we still want to provide space for this moment of connection and celebration and so we are going to deliver an all day event online Saturday 5th December that is aiming to be creative, engaging, energising informative and inspiring and cultivates a sense of connection and solidarity even when we are apart!

We are currently putting together an exciting programme which includes reviewing and reflecting on the year gone by, plans for the future, member led workshops, learnings and discussions from La Via Campesina, a pub quiz, a film screening and a special celebration! You can view a draft of the programme here, but please note this is subject to change and some parts of the program are still to be finalised.

HOW ARE WE MAKING AN ONLINE EVENT ACCESSIBLE?

We recognise that after over six months of events, talks, trainings and courses going online a lot of people are beginning to feel ‘zoom fatigue’. And we also recognise that for many LWA members spending a lot of time in front a computer screen is very different to our day-to-day work.

In order to make our AGM feel manageable and energising we have broken it down into four sections, and include a pub quiz, performances and a film screening.  All sessions are optional and you can pick and choose what you would like to attend.

The most important part of the AGM is the Saturday morning from 09.00am – 12.00pm  where all matters and business that require membership participation and voting will be held. We will be reflecting and reviewing the year gone by, presenting accounts for members approval and electing new members to the LWA Coordinating Group.

We have aimed to include lots of break and space between sessions and it is possible to dial in via phone or computer. However we are unable for this event to offer translations or closed captioning.

TICKET SALES AND COSTS

We decided to charge a small ticket price at a sliding scale for our AGM as even though it’s online there are still quite a few costs involved in running and delivering it and we still have several people behind working hard behind the scenes organising it and bringing it all together.

Ticket sales will close on Monday 23rd November – just under two weeks before the event. This is because we need time to post out all ticket holders an AGM pack which includes important documents. We will email all login information and technical logistics to ticket holders the week before the event. We will also run a session in the weeks before (date TBC) offering any technical support. training and guidance on how to use zoom.

We have full bursary tickets available and if you would like apply for a bursary please get in touch with Dee at dee@staging.landworkersalliance.org.uk

Buy your ticket(s) here: https://staging.landworkersalliance.org.uk/shop/lwa-agm-2020/

WHO CAN ATTEND THE LWA AGM?

*The Landworkers’ Alliance AGM and Winter Shindig is the one national event of the year we require those attending to be either be members or supporters of the LWA*

This is because at this event we have many political and strategic discussions about the direction of the union, elect and re-elect the co-ordnating group, vote on proposals about the governance of the union and have LWA regional meetings. It’s really important that any decisions and steering of the union comes from the members.

If you would like to attend and get involved but aren’t yet a member or a supporter of the LWA you can simply join here:
