Academic/Research Enquiries

Please look at the Agroecology Research Collaboration to see if it fits your area of research/work.

Membership Support / Advice

Currently the LWA does not have capacity or resources to help individual members or potential members on their specific projects, farms or programmes. We get a lot of requests for individual support and would love to have the time to respond to each request in full. We are fundraising for a new role for somebody to focus on membership support and services as we have identified it is a gap in our offering so please watch this space. Having said that, if your query is critical and urgent please email info@landworkersalliance.org.uk including the word URGENT in the subject header and it will get picked up and we can try our best to help.

Contacting Individual Staff

Please take the time to explore our staff page here to see who the most relevant contact for your enquiry is. Our addresses format is firstname.lastname@landworkersalliance.org.uk Please bear in mind we all work part time and have limited capacity to respond to enquiries outside our core areas of work. You can also find information under the About Us header about branch and regional organising, and identity groups within the LWA membership.

We are looking for a Head Grower to take on the running and management of our well-established organic market garden at Maple Farm, Kelsale, in Suffolk. To start ideally at the end of April.
As part of a larger farm, our market garden makes up about 4 acres, with outdoor crops and 8 large polytunnels and is a brilliant opportunity for someone with growing experience who wants to continue pursuing their horticultural career in an organic setting.
The Head Grower would be working as part of a small, tight knit team and should be able to work both independently and alongside others. Experience of working with volunteers would also be a bonus.

We currently grow a wide range of fruit and vegetables mostly to supply our on-site farm shop which is much loved by the local community as well as to some local chefs and veg box schemes. It would be the Head Grower’s responsibility to take charge of crop-planning, propagation, cultivation and harvesting, assisted by our current, very knowledgeable grower.
There is also room for the market garden to expand, evolve and the right candidate to bring their own experience, creativity and innovation to the project so if you feel that this could be you, please get in touch!

It is essential that you have a passion for organic, sustainable food production and a desire to pursue a livelihood in it and that you have at least two years’ experience of horticultural work, ideally in food production.
A horticultural qualification at level 2 or above would be fantastic (though is not completely necessary) and you should be happy to work in a hands on role, in all weather conditions throughout the year.
Experience of working to Organic standards would also be a bonus.

Salary payable would be £25k upwards depending on experience and a farm residence may also be available as part of the package, for the right candidate.

Maple Farm is home to a community of complementary enterprises including a celebrated café, laying hens and our own flour mill. The farm attracts visitors and wider attention because of its pioneering work in regenerative agriculture. The role will appeal to someone enthusiastic, with good experience of horticulture, ambition and an appetite for building upon a business which has influence over a wide audience. http://www.maplefarmkelsale.co.uk .

Please send any questions and applications to info@maplefarmkelsale.co.uk

We look forward to hearing from you!
