Membership Support / Advice

Currently the LWA does not have capacity or resources to help individual members or potential members on their specific projects, farms or programmes. We get a lot of requests for individual support and would love to have the time to respond to each request in full. We are fundraising for a new role for somebody to focus on membership support and services as we have identified it is a gap in our offering so please watch this space. Having said that, if your query is critical and urgent please email info@landworkersalliance.org.uk including the word URGENT in the subject header and it will get picked up and we can try our best to help.

Dispatch Leader vacancy at Good Earth Growers

We are looking to recruit a full-time Dispatch Leader to join our team at our farm in St Mellion, Cornwall.

At Good Earth Growers we are proud to supply a great range of organic produce for some of the finest restaurants in the country, we also provide an affordable veg box scheme for our local communities. We grow edible flowers, micro greens, veg and herbs and also specialise in Asian produce. We are currently growing on 25 acres with two large polytunnels with the potential to expand. This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a business that is quickly developing and growing, creating opportunities where people can genuinely develop their interests.

    Key Responsibilities

    – The Dispatch Leader will be responsible for packing and sending out our produce to restaurants, making sure it meets customer specification, is of the best quality and looks great
    – They will liaise with delivery services to book and schedule deliveries
    – They will need to manage time effectively as the harvest team will look to them to find out which products need harvesting first in response to courier timings
    – They will be the last port of call before our products get sent so it’s vital, they have great attention to detail
    – The Dispatch leader will need to understand the variety of specs needed for different restaurants and they will communicate these with the harvest team
    – The Dispatch leader will also organise and manage the flow of produce into the fridge, making sure the fridge and packing barn is kept tidy and clean
    – They will also complete the daily checks around our Food Management System (cleaning checks, fridge working correctly, fridge temps etc). Making sure all documents for the FMS are kept up to date.
    – Will make sure there is adequate stock of packing materials
    – They will be passionate about caring for and presenting our produce in a beautiful way.
    – Have a good understanding of harvesting techniques and procedures as the Dispatch leader will also need to help out with harvesting when orders are lower during quieter times of the year.
    – Will use our online systems to print picking lists, help dispatch orders and print labels.

    Person specification

    – flexible
    – organised
    – able to manage their time
    – great attention to detail
    – able to stay calm under a busy workload
    – able to work in a team
    – great work ethic
    – good computer literacy
    – good communicator

This is a seasonal role but for the right person the role could develop into a permanent role. The started salary is £10 per hour but there is potential for the salary to increase as the role progresses.

The role is full time. Start times are earlier in the summer and later in the winter.

Please send a cover letter stating how you meet the person specification and a CV to sarah@goodearthgrowers.co.uk.
