A helping hand for your farming future

Free advice and support for farmers in England seeking guidance through the transition to Environmental Land Management Schemes and towards a sustainable farming future.

Our advice aims to help farmers and land managers prepare for the agricultural transition and build farm businesses that will work for you and future generations. We will encourage and support the integration of resilience into all aspects of farming systems; looking at agroecological land-management, shortening supply chains, and resilient financial practices.

As spaces are now limited, unsuccessful applications will be kept on record to be given advance notice of the next phase of the scheme, due to last three years, and expected to begin in autumn 2022.

In collaboration with our partners the Pasture Fed Livestock Association and Organic Research Centre, we are providing the following for FREE to farmers:

    Transition Tool Kit

A Farming Future Toolkit to support farmers in the transition away from BPS
Sector specific films sharing case studies of different environmental land management practices and farming models
For more information on the Transition Toolkit click yma
(Please note you will need to sign up to the programme to receive the password to access the toolkit)

    1 on 1 Advice & Peer Support

One to one farm advisory services
Regional and sectoral peer to peer support networks
    Farm tours
For more information on the One-to-One and Peer Support click yma.

    Farmer to Farmer Webinars

Weekly webinars for farmers on topics covering all aspects of transitioning your farm to a more environmentally and financially resilient business.
For more information on the Farmer to Farmer Webinars click yma.

This programme can help people explore a range of different aspects of transition:
    • Need help understanding the payments replacing BPS?
    • Do you want to reduce your input costs?
    • Need ideas for making your farm a more sustainable system?
    • Looking to sell direct or shorten your supply chains?
    • Struggling to see profits in your farming business?
    • Want to improve your soil quality?
    • Interested in moving towards an organic system?
    • Want to increase wildlife and biodiversity on your land?
    • Would you like to know more about practices like agroforestry?

The advice will be FREE for farmers in ENGLAND in the following sectors:
    – Medium to large scale horticulture (above 5 hectares)
    – SME dairy production
    – SME red meat production
    – Mixed farming systems
The horticulture focused advice will be more appropriate for farms above 5 hectares, but if you are a horticulture farm below 5 hectare do register your interest and we will seek to support you if possible.
Please note: all eligible farmers will need an SBI number and not be in receipt of advice from another FFRF provider.
You can read more about the DEFRA Future Farming Resilience Fund yma.

The free advice is available now until March 2022. Please fill in this form to register. We will be in touch to invite you to the webinar series, share a transition toolkit, and invite you to fill in a farm assessment so we can connect you with an advisor.
