What’s the issue?
The Scottish Parliament is currently considering a new law to change the way the food system is governed – the Good Food Nation Bill. This law could ensure the food system contributes to everyone’s health and wellbeing, values the work to put food on our plates and supports high animal welfare whilst sustaining our wildlife, natural resources and environment for generations to come. But there is a risk that the law won’t go far enough. For example, that it won’t do enough to realise the #RightToFood, or that it may fail to include clear targets or monitoring responsibilities.
What’s the event?
The event will be from 10am – 3pm on April 26th outside the Scottish Parliament Building – people from lots of different sectors will be there, including farmers, environmental and climate campaigners, healthcare professionals, community food growers, food bank worker.
