JOB DESCRIPTION
Post Title: Lead Gardener
Full Time –£23,000-£26,000 (equivalent) per annum. 37.5 hrs/week with flexible hours for seasonality. Initially a fixed term 6 month contract, however our intention is this will become a long term contract with renewed funding.
Responsible to: You will work as part of a co-operative staff team, overseen by the Campy Growers Committee (collectively)Campy Growers is a newly-established SCIO whose main purpose is to grow food on an area of degenerated land within Dundee’s Camperdown Park. This is a unique opportunity to help develop an urban community market garden using sustainable methods of food growing to enhance the environment, local food production and to work positively with the local community. Our aim is to build climate and ecological resilience through local chemical-free food production, and build empowerment through volunteering opportunities and education. We are very much about food equality and making fresh produce available across the community.
You will have good experience of market gardening and its systems, and also have a flexible approach to growing. In a community garden setting you will be adaptable enough to work with people of all ages and abilities: you will be keen to work with our garden volunteers, be interested in their ideas in the running of the garden and willing to educate people in food growing techniques and sustainable growing systems.

Main Duties
• Market garden planning, multi-crop production, harvesting and packing of vegetables and fruit ready for delivery (to community organisations and CSA customers).
• Working to improve the structure and functionality of the market garden.
• Managing rotations, building soil fertility and biodiversity on site.• To work with and empower volunteers to help out in the Garden in ways they feel able.
• To collaborate with others in the running of the Garden.
• Welcoming visitors and volunteers to the site.• Contribute to the delivery of garden seasonal events, fundraisers and open days
• Contribute towards practical food-growing workshops.
