Requests for work, volunteering or internships

We are currently not recruiting for any roles but please read our newsletters for any announcements. We currently do not offer any volunteer or internship placements directly with the LWA, but keep an eye out in the newsletter or on the forum for any members looking for volunteers or workers.

Academic/Research Enquiries

Please look at the Agroecology Research Collaboration to see if it fits your area of research/work.

Membership Support / Advice

Currently the LWA does not have capacity or resources to help individual members or potential members on their specific projects, farms or programmes. We get a lot of requests for individual support and would love to have the time to respond to each request in full. We are fundraising for a new role for somebody to focus on membership support and services as we have identified it is a gap in our offering so please watch this space. Having said that, if your query is critical and urgent please email info@landworkersalliance.org.uk including the word URGENT in the subject header and it will get picked up and we can try our best to help.

Contacting Individual Staff

Please take the time to explore our staff page here to see who the most relevant contact for your enquiry is.

Our addresses format is firstname.lastname@landworkersalliance.org.uk

Please bear in mind we all work part time and have limited capacity to respond to enquiries outside our core areas of work.

You can also find information under the About Us header about branch and regional organising, and identity groups within the LWA membership.

As a member based union, the LWA is keen to centre our members’ voices in our comms. This includes in our press and media work, on our blog and across our social media channels. To support the development of this, we are launching a year-long programme where a group of members will receive training and support to speak on key issues, share their story and gain confidence in media work.

Each year we will take a cohort of around 8 members, aiming for a broad geographic and sectoral spread, as well as uplifting underrepresented voices through our identity groups. Through the programme, we will provide training on social media, media and press work, and campaigning and advocacy. In exchange, the participants will write social media posts for LWA channels, and take on relevant media opportunities (with relevant briefings!). This is a great opportunity for anyone looking to gain skills and confidence in sharing their story, speak about key issues relating to landwork, and learn about press and media work.

We anticipate the core commitments of the programme will be around 4-5 days of time, spread across the year. This includes six online training sessions, creating a social media post every other month, and relevant media opportunities. There is the chance to write additional blogs and social media posts if you wish to further develop your skills.

At the end of the year you will be invited to join our Land-Talkers Network, which we hope to build over the next few years, and who we will invite to respond to media requests and other opportunities as they arise.

Unfortunately we are unable to pay participants for their time, but we have put together a training and support package to make this a mutually beneficial opportunity. If you are travelling to an event on behalf of the LWA we will cover expenses, and you will also be entitled to any speakers fees if these are offered.

This opportunity is only open to people who are a member of the LWA.

As part of the application you will be asked:

  • To submit a short (less than 90 second) video telling us why you’d like to be part of the Land-Talkers Programme.
