Membership Support / Advice

Currently the LWA does not have capacity or resources to help individual members or potential members on their specific projects, farms or programmes. We are fundraising for a new role for somebody to focus on membership support and services as we have identified it is a gap in our offering so please watch this space. Having said that, if your query is critical and urgent please email info@landworkersalliance.org.uk including the word URGENT in the subject header and it will get picked up and we can try our best to help.

Looking for market gardening and farm experience near Bristol.

Hey folks. After a successful career working in corporate business, I’ve decided to switch it up and pursue a career as a market gardener, with ideas to use my business and practical skills to build additional farm enterprises of my own. First my goal to start my own market gardening business serving the Bristol and Bath markets but I recognise that I need to gain experience before diving in head first!

I’m passionate about organic food and growing my own vegetables and keen to learn more about regenerative agriculture. Connecting with the earth, growing organic produce and working outdoors has become a bit of a fantasy for me and as cheesy as it sounds, i’d like to make this dream a reality.

So I’m looking for work experience on an organic market garden/farm or ideally a multi enterprise farm so I can learn about e.g. poultry farming. I’m very practical with my hands, work extremely hard, and have excellent business acumen which I have developed during my 10 years working in the B2B sector.

I’m looking to work with or alongside someone I can learn from and be inspired by. My goal is to learn the practical skills needed and (if possible) how to run a successful market garden business. Once I have gained enough experience I will be looking to either partner with an established business or find another aspiring market gardener to work with.

If anyone has any work opportunities available to me I would be most grateful to hear about it. And if anyone is available just for a chat to give me advice about how to start out as a market gardener and how to find land to rent or acquire near Bristol that would be very helpful indeed.

    Thanks all.
    Adam
