Farm Visit and Social at Northdown Orchard, Overton, Hampshire on Saturday 14th June

Hot on the heals of April’s successful double bill LWA gathering in Devon, Mike Fisher of Northdown Orchard is hosting the next farm walk, film show and ceilidh. He will be celebrating 20 years of growing and running an organic vegetable box scheme, so come along and help him mark the occasion, and learn a few things about how to keep a successful vegetable enterprise running over the long haul.

The Plan

Arrive at 3pm, to start the farm walk at 3.30pm, followed by tea and cakes.

A showing of the film, “Symphony of the Soil”, Local Food Roots and maybe later, “The Real Dirt on Farmer John”.

Food (breakfast and supper) will be provided, along with beer and cider for £10/head. Please let Mike know if you are coming ( mike@northdownorchard.co.uk ) so he can judge how many to cater for. Also, please bring your own plates, mugs, cutlery and glasses – washing up facilities will be provided. Breakfast will start relatively early the next morning to cater for those who are going to the Scythe Festival.

The traditional LWA ceilidh featuring the Rutted Furrows, will be followed by singing and music around the fire and opportunities for saunas, showers and a dip in the hot tub. So, come and compare notes about how your season is going, swing through a few dances and sing into the small hours, and you can still get the the Scythe Festival in Somerset the next day. How’s that for a fine way to spend a weekend in June?!
